English
2110 surveys representative works of world literature from Antiquity to the
present day. These readings are examined from the perspective of understanding their cultural and historical
contexts as well as recognizing the enduring human values which unite different literary traditions. We will
focus especially on close reading and on
critical thinking and writing within a framework of comparative and interdisciplinary
analysis.
Student blogs are designed as informal and personal literary spaces where students may write about the texts, express opinions, and link to related media artifacts such as web sites, blogs, images, and videos that enhance understanding of the cultures and peoples studied.
